Story Time: Smashing Mp3 Player

Hulk Smash!

Remember that Phillips mp3 player I mentioned last post? Well I smashed it to pieces after fighting with it for three hours, even with technical support. I may have lost my temper but come on, it refused to do anything properly.
And before you think I am some kind of future anger management case I have high blood pressure! Therefore it was healthy to smash it rather than fight with it further. Hehe- felt really good actually.

Now I am using a Polaroid PMP180-4GB, which was something like $29.95. For the price it does what it is supposed to-with exception to staying connected to a computer. And that being said I can't change the music on it but for now it will do till I find something else. I am in the market for something simple like a Sansa (but with less bugs and crashing) and I will consider an iPod of some type, but I REFUSE to have iTunes on my computer.

Nothing against Apple or iTunes, I just really HATE those programs you load the songs through- they take twice as long than it would to just load it directly onto the device.

And just for fun here is what I can remember has the MP3 Players of my past, I am sure there are a few missing. 90% of these players were retired because the headphone jack stopped functioning.

Philips GoGear MUSE 8GB
SanDisk Sansa 4GB
Samsung SCH-r610 (Cell Phone)
Nintendo DS (Using Moonshell)
Dell Axim X3 (Palm Pilot)
WeWa!! Concertmaster Mp3 Player (256 MB)
Sony Mp3 CD Player

Leave a comment if you can suggest a good mp3 player!
Especially if it can take a micro SD card along with internal memory

Updates 07/05/2012

I think we are going to have to call Treasury Tuesday 'Treasury-whenever-I-Remember-Tuesday'. I've been very busy with my real job and just life in general. But here is a little update for you.

I am currently fighting to load new music onto my Phillips GoGear Muse 8GB. Now let me start by telling you that I am not a computer novice-so this shouldn't be difficult. I shouldn't have to reformat, reset and return to factory defaults every time I want to add a song or two!!!  I don't think I will be purchasing a replacement mp3 player from Phillips after I smash this one to pieces. I'll go back to fighting with Sanyo or perhaps try out a Sony Walkman.  If you have a good mp3 player, suggest it in the comments :)

2.25" Pinback Buttons
Canada Day:
We had some great sales at the Canada Day parade we attended. I had made around 350 pins and sold about 160. If you stop off at our Etsy Shop you will find two new Canada Day pins there- we have lots left over! If you'd like to order them in bulk contact us, I will give you a discount!

Next year I think I'll go to a neighbouring city event/parade and see if we do any better.
Oh that reminds me: I purchased a new button maker last week, a 2.25" Tecre button maker. It was a great find on Kijiji! Came with everything and eventually I will put this size into our Etsy Store. In the meantime we do have 1.5" Pinback Buttons and Button Magnets.

And our Giveaway is still running till the 10th of July, so make sure you get your entires in!

Things I Have Bought Vol #2

Things I Have Bought Vol #2

Welcome back to another installment of me talking about things I have purchased! Haha-trust me I have bought some really neat items for you to take a look at!

1. Washi Tape: Omiyage & WashiWishes
Let me start off with before I joined Etsy I had never heard of Washi Tape. Basically it is a transparent masking tape-super friendly to use and if you are into scrap booking or other paper crafts they add a nice touch to your items. I have purchased these tapes from (a Canadian Seller) as well as WashiWishes on Etsy. Both sellers shipped quick and the tapes were perfect!  Make sure to grab yourself at least one roll!

Not something I would have ever thought to be on Etsy, but there is-TEA! This isn't just regular tea either, it is hand blended by Tim, the Teaman! I purchased 25 bags of the English Breakfast and let me tell you it is fantastic, fresh and strong! I have a thing, I need the strong tea-let it sit for an hour with two bags in and boom I'm set!

3. Card Holder: Turquoise Business Card Holder by MoreThanColors
I was surfing around the BNS/BNRs of Etsy and I came across these Coloured/stained Glass business holders. I really like business cards and why shouldn't I display mine in something as grand as this! It was one of my higher purchases on Etsy and it was so worth it. Not only did Michelle customize the colour for me, it arrived quickly and in extra-extra bubble wrap to avoid breakage. And the turquoise holder has become one of her most popular colours for the business card holders. I take this one to craft shows to hold my cards and people comment on it all the time :)

4. Makeup: Midnight Kiss Mineral Eye Shadow by RedeemingBeauty

That is one thing I like about being involved in BNS or BNRs is you get to purchase other items and sometimes you find ones that really suit you! I purchased some All Natural/Vegan eye Shadow from Emily. Not only does she hand grind the minerals with a mortar and pestle but she ships FAST! Not to mention for your first order you can get 25% off with the code INTRO, so why not give it a go and test her eye shadow!

5.  Lip balm: Pink Grapefruit & Ginger by CHICBean
I had purchased the Pink Grapefruit & Ginger lip balm for a friend of mine way back in December. And she raved and raved about it-so I had to get myself one as well and wow! Your lips are so soft after using it for a few days-not to mention it smells delicious and is natural, not tested on animals and Canadian made! I highly recommend grabbing one just before winter-never will you have chapped lips.

500 Pins later, I'm back!

Ever wondered what 500 pinback buttons look like?

03/28/2012 Custom Pins

I hope you missed me, I have been running around like a mad woman the last few days. I had the KW Mom & Handmade Fair which I attended with my craft show buddy Wendy. Wendy makes the most wonderful soaps but she has yet to get on Etsy or Facebook, I'm nagging her-she'll get one one day!

I did pretty well at the show, lots of visitors to the booth, people having a good laugh at some of the pins and of course the other vendors were intrigued. I think I was the first button making to be in that show- it was a good experience. And of course being the sales woman that I am, I managed a few custom orders from my fellow vendors!

Speaking of custom work, if you are a fan of Bayleaf Button's facebook page, you would have seen some pictures of custom pins I did for the Algonquin College Animation Students. For the graduating class they have a showcase type event and needed some promotional items for it. I have only another 50 pins to finish and then I will be sending them far far away.

Take a look at some of the photos I snapped, they are great :D

Story Time: Macarons

You can never learn anything if you don't try.

Life is sweet (8x8" Fine Art Print) by Jackierueda
For the last few months I have seen these French Macarons, not be confused with the coconut version Macaroons. They look very yummy, and I haven't found a local place that sells/makes them. I mentioned them to my Mum and she said she has made them before, thus the challenge for this weekend began!

What's new?

Hello Readers!

I know there has been a severe lack of updates lately- I am working on that!  I have decided to scrap Wordless Sundays for now because I just don't have the time to take interesting photographs. I figured you would get bored of seeing my cat or fireplaces.

But in lieu of Wordless Sundays, I have opted for a more interesting post- FEATURED SELLERS! Yes I will be interviewing some shop owners about themselves and their shops. If you have suggestions or would like to be featured yourself send us a convo on Etsy. Or better yet send us an E-Mail.

Remember the two articles I wrote all about Buy 'n Stay (Article Here) and Buy 'n Replace (Article Here) treasuries? Perhaps you should give one of them a try!!

I am Curator on this BNR for the Canadian Etsian Promo Team, Everyone is allowed to play not just Canadians!

And the PromoPros are running a BNS, right now (I also help out, we are super friendly!)

Etsy Let's Talk: BNR

What is a BNR Treasury?!>

If you own an Etsy store, you should entertain the idea of trying BNR!

What is a BNR?

BNR stands for Buy 'N Replace.

BNR is a fast paced sister to BNS (read what a BNS is here).Every treasury has 16 spots where you would feature a shop. Much like a BNS you would purchase spot but instead of waiting for the next round you get in the current BNR! BNRs may be done in rounds but don't end when you fill all the spots--you simply replace the item with the new buyer's item! They can run anywhere from an hour to ten hours, it all depends on the curator!

The curator (creator) will have rules/regulations for you to follow in order to purchase into the BNR.
The rule might be that there is a minimum purchase with an amount: ex. $4.00 before shipping. This means that you must spend at least $4.00 on the item or more before the shipping charges in order to get an immediate spot.

One thing that is very different from BNS is the 'Call out', in a BNR you MUST call out the shop you would like to purchase from. Because it is a Buy 'N Replace... the shop you purchase from you replace in the treasury.

Mini Hats!

So I just watched Corinne from Craftovision & Threadbanger, demonstrating how to make your own a mini hat. Now truth be told I am not a milliner or much of a hat wearer, but even I found this tutorial easy to follow. If you end up trying it, I would love to see the results!

02/04/12 Treasury Features

We were featured in some treasuries!

I notice because of the sheer amount of people in my circles that I often miss treasuries that feature Bayleaf Button items. So I used the amazing widget tools from CraftCult to find all the ones I have missed lately.

And so just past this jump you can see all of them!

New Listings

It is hard working all day and having to come home and make dinner. Well not hard but you know the food that takes time or a lot of preparation-that is something you can't always do during the working week. And that is one thing I miss. In the upcoming week I am going to see if I can't do more exciting meals, any recipes or suggestions would be great.

So tonight one of my family members was home early and made breaded pork schnitzel, mash potatoes, and steamed carrots. You have no idea how good that was, it makes my mouth water just thinking about it!

Speaking of mouth watering... we have new items in the SHOP!

Visit the listing on Bayleaf Button's store on Etsy
I think these are going to be a big hit with everyone who has a toddler or is going to have one!

Not to toot my own horn but these also make a FANTASTIC gift for baby showers.

Obviously they are not appropriate for toddlers or babies to handle but their Moms and Dads can wear them!

Did I mention that I had time to sew today? I made two wonderful zipper bags, that are available at the shop, this weekend I plan to make a bunch more. I have more fabric kicking around than I should!

Extra padded bag, great for cell phones or small cameras!
Check out this Zipper pouch at our Etsy shop!
